China places record order for grain transport vessels
Chinese company Cosco Shipping Bulk Co Ltd has signed a contract to build 15 multi-purpose vessels for grain transportation, marking the largest single order of its kind in the country’s history. The project will be carried out in partnership with the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and aims to establish an efficient and environmentally friendly grain supply system.
The new order, placed on World Food Day, highlights the strategic importance of logistics in ensuring China’s food security. The modern vessels are expected to reduce transportation costs, improve reliability and safety, and minimize environmental impact.
The deployment of these ships is anticipated to strengthen China’s ability to respond promptly to global grain market challenges, modernize supply infrastructure, and ensure a stable domestic supply of grain.
