China has reduced soybean imports by 3% since the beginning of the year
The SunSirs China Commodity Analysis Center, citing the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, reports that China imported 4.019 million tons of soybeans in March 2026. Total soybean imports for January-March 2026 totaled 16.584 million tons, down 3.1% from the previous year.
The 3.1% decline in China’s soybean imports in the first quarter of 2026 indicates a possible contraction in domestic supplies. This trend is expected to have a positive impact on soybean spot prices. As a major global importer, China traditionally experiences supply pressure due to declining demand, which could lead to higher spot prices.
