Canadian canola and soybean export pace is second to last year
Canada has shipped about 2.7 million tons of canola to foreign markets since the start of the 2023/24 season. Over the year, shipments of the North American oilseed abroad dropped by almost a third. Such data was released by experts of The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC).
They note that a similar situation is developing with soybean sales: in 2023/24, exports of Canadian beans fell by 1% to 2.8 million tons.
Wheat shipments are also 1% behind the pace of shipments in MY 2022/23 and now stand at 11.2 million tons.
“Exports of soft wheat from the country during the period total 9.4 million tons, durum wheat 1.4 million tons (-38%), and grain of other varieties 0.39 million tons (+8%),” the report said.
Sales of Canadian barley since the beginning of the current season are estimated at 0.9 million tons (-44%), corn – 0.5 million tons (-9%), oats – 0.8 million tons (+14%).
