Bunge sells sixth grain elevator in Canada as part of merger deal with Viterra
Bunge Global SA has sold its Valparaiso, Saskatchewan, grain elevator. This is the last of six assets the company has committed to sell as part of an agreement with the Canadian government to obtain regulatory approval for its merger with Viterra.
Under the agreement, the facility was separated from the rest of Bunge’s business and placed under the management of an independent manager effective July 2, 2025. The elevator was purchased by Cargill. Financial details of the deal, which became effective on January 23 after approval by the Canadian government, were not disclosed.
The separate management and sale process for all six assets was overseen by a third party approved by the Canadian government. In addition to the commitments to the government, Bunge Global SA also sold a grain elevator in Eybro, Saskatchewan, to F.W. Cobs.
Recall that in July 2025, Bunge Global SA completed the merger with Viterra. The company manages more than 300 grain storage facilities in more than 50 countries, more than 40 port terminals and more than 155 processing, refining and packaging enterprises. On November 7, 2025, Bunge announced the sale of five other elevators. They were purchased by local companies.
