Bunge plans to increase sunseed processing capacity in Romania
The American group Bunge, which owns three of the five leading oil brands in Romania – Unisol, Floriol and Unirea, plans to increase the capacity of sunflower seed processing at the plant in the city of Lehliu-Gara in the south of the country. This is reported by the Romanian newspaper Ziarul Financiar.
It is noted that Bunge’s investment projects in Romania have a strategic focus, and the overall goal of the company is to maximize local processing capacity.
“Bunge’s investment projects in Romania are strategically focused on operational improvements, including automation and the introduction of advanced technologies, as well as sustainable development projects, in particular regarding energy efficiency. At our processing plant in Lehliu, we are working on a project to increase the throughput capacity for receiving oilseeds,” Bunge representatives explained.
The company also has a plant in the city of Buzau, where, according to its representatives, it also plans investments for 2025 and 2026.
Bunge has been operating in Romania since 2002, when it acquired the local company Cereol and two plants, Interoil and Muntenia. Today, the group is represented in the segments of edible oils, biodiesel and protein meals.
