Bulgaria’s grain crop in 2021 may hit a new high record
Article author:
Early grains in Bulgaria were exposed to excellent weather at the ripening time that was a favorable factor for their yields. According to the latest report (September 2), the harvest of wheat and barley is over:
– wheat: 7159 KMT (with yield at 5.95 MT/ha),
– barley: 698 KMT (with yield at 5.36 MT/ha).
UkrAgroConsult estimates that Bulgaria’s grain crop next season may reach a record.
For now, we leave the corn crop estimate unchanged, because the first harvest results are to be obtained for more precise forecasting.
Moreover, abnormally high air temperatures were observed in late July and early August, which could have impeded pollination of late-season varieties and deteriorated overall corn crop conditions.
Bulgaria’s grain export potential next season may reach the second highest level since MY 2019/20.
