Brazil’s pork exports approach 1.2 mln tons in nine months
Brazil exported 1.192 mln tons of pork and pork products in January–September 2026, up 6.2% from the same period last year. Export revenue increased by 1.3% to $2.737 bln, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).
September performance was weaker, with shipments falling by 11% year on year to 135 thsd tons. Monthly export revenue declined by 21.5% to $289.3 mln.
The Philippines remained the largest buyer of Brazilian pork in September, importing 25.7 thsd tons, although shipments fell by 47.7% year on year. Meanwhile, exports to Japan rose by 38.9% to 15.9 thsd tons, while shipments to Chile jumped by 72% to 14.4 thsd tons.
China reduced imports of Brazilian pork by 16.4% to 11.4 thsd tons, while Vietnam cut purchases by 23.2% to 7.4 thsd tons. At the same time, shipments increased sharply to Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Peru and South Africa. Malaysia, a newly opened market for Brazil, imported 1.9 thsd tons in September.
ABPA noted that despite the weaker September result, overall export momentum remains positive, with average monthly shipments exceeding 130 thsd tons. Stronger sales to Japan, Chile and Argentina, along with access to the Malaysian market, are supporting further diversification of Brazilian pork exports.
