Brazil in talks to expand beef exports to China
On Monday, Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services Márcio Elias Rosa announced that the Brazilian government had intensified negotiations with China to expand Brazilian beef exports to that market.
During an event in Rio de Janeiro, the minister stated that the bilateral dialogue aims to review the current quota system for Brazilian beef exports with the goal of increasing exports to China beginning in 2027.
According to Rosa, the Brazilian government hopes to further strengthen the position of South American beef in the Chinese market, which is the main export destination for Brazilian products and one of Brazil’s largest trading partners.
The minister expressed confidence that Brazilian meat processing plants could be allowed to export beef to the Chinese market this year, allowing Brazil to expand its exports to the Asian giant.
