Armenian Security Council Secretary admits replacing wheat as a strategic commodity with rice
Rice can become a strategic commodity instead of wheat in Armenia, Secretary of the RA Security Council Armen Grigoryan said at the conference “Crossroads of the World: Uniting Security and Democracy” in Yerevan.
According to him, thinking about the country’s security, one should take into account not only the defense aspect, but also goods of strategic importance.
“An assessment should be made in terms of people’s needs. Thus, strategic goods can be replaced, which will allow the economy to become more flexible and prevent others from targeting our strategic goods. For example, we can switch from wheat to rice as a strategic commodity and change our adaptability,” Grigoryan said.
Russia is the main supplier of wheat to Armenia.
