Argentina’s sunflower oil exports will hit a record this season

From March until the end of the season, Argentina will ship approximately 1.18 million tons of sunflower oil to foreign markets, a new high for the period and 24% higher than the same period in 2025, according to experts at Oil World (Germany).

This forecast is based on strong demand for sunflower oil, particularly from India, where the majority of the expected volume is expected to be shipped, as well as high processing volumes. Specifically, Argentina processed a record 565,000 tons of sunflower seeds in March, compared to 372,000 tons in the same month in 2025.

Therefore, sunflower oil production in the country for the period from March to August of this year could reach 1.47 million tons (1.26 million tons last year). If the target is achieved, total production in Argentina in 2025/26 could reach 2.42 million tonnes, up from 1.98 million tonnes in 2024/25.

Consequently, exports this season could increase to a record 1.93 million tonnes, up from 1.45 million tonnes in 2024/25.

It was previously reported that Argentina’s sunflower oil exports have increased by 55% since the start of the season, reaching 963,000 tonnes, including to India and Egypt. Sunflower meal exports have increased by 72%, reaching a record 1.06 million tonnes.
