Argentina’s sunflower meal exports in September reached their highest level in 25 years
Argentina’s sunflower meal exports reached a 25-year monthly high in September, reaching 180,000 tonnes, almost 90% of which were destined for the EU and the UK. For the 2024/25 marketing year (October-September), meal exports increased to 1.37 million tonnes from 1.12 million tonnes a year earlier.
Argentina’s sunflower oil exports in September are estimated at 170,000 tonnes, increasing total shipments for July-September 2025 to 590,000 tonnes, compared to 380,000 tonnes in the same period in 2024, according to Oil World (Germany).
In particular, product shipments to India this year… Exports to India rose to a record 365,000 tons, increasing the share of shipments to India to 62%, up from only 17% in July-September 2024.
The country previously abolished export duties on agricultural products to boost exports and achieve export targets. Thanks to active purchases on foreign markets, the grace period lasted only two days. The country’s oilseed and meal exports for the season are estimated at 40.4 million tons.
