Argentina increases soybean crush on strong demand for soybean oil and meal
Argentina’s soybean crush rose to 4.25 mln tons in August 2026, up from 4.19 mln tons in July and 3.91 mln tons a year earlier. This represents a 9% year-on-year increase, according to Oil World.
The growth was supported by strong external demand for soybean oil and meal. At the same time, limited soybean sales by local farmers were offset by higher imports of raw beans.
Argentina imported 644 thsd tons of soybeans in August, compared with 391 thsd tons a year earlier. In January-August, imports reached 6.4 mln tons versus 4.6 mln tons in the same period of 2025. Most of the imported soybeans came from Paraguay.
Argentina’s soybean meal exports increased to 3.10 mln tons in August, up from 2.94 mln tons a year earlier and 2.62 mln tons in July. Soybean oil exports also rose to 662 thsd tons compared with 610 thsd tons in August 2025. India remained the largest destination for Argentine soybean oil.
Overall, Argentina crushed about 20.3 mln tons of soybeans in April-August 2026, up 6% from the same period a year earlier.
