Argentina grain exchange raises soybean crop forecast as harvest progresses
The Rosario Grain Exchange (BCR) has raised its soybean production estimates for the 2025/26 MY and wheat production for the MY 2026/27 to 51.5 million tons and 20 million tons, respectively. The revisions were made possible by the successful harvest and better than last year’s yield indicators.
As of June 3, Argentine farmers had harvested 92% of their soybean crop, compared to 88% on the same date last year. The average yield of the crop reached 3.2 tons/hectare, exceeding the previous season’s indicators and supporting optimistic production estimates.
After the soybean harvest, farmers are focusing on corn. Currently, 40.6% of the area has been threshed, and the crop yield forecast is left unchanged at a record level of 68 million tons.
At the same time, the country is actively sowing winter wheat. As of early June, 2.1 million hectares, or 32.4% of the planned area, had been sown, significantly exceeding both last year’s figure of 23.6% and the five-year average of 20%. This indicates a high pace of field work and favorable conditions for the new season.
