Argentina approves $277 mln port construction project
Argentine Economy Minister Luis Caputo announced that the government has approved a $277 million port project on the Paraná River under the Large Investment Incentives (RIGI) program, according to La Depecha Diario.
The port, located on a key agricultural waterway in Santa Fe Province, will store grain, fertilizer, iron ore, steel, and fuel.
The initiative, led by Terminal Timbúes S.A., represents the first investment under the RIGI program in Santa Fe Province. The company submitted its proposal to the Argentine government several weeks ago, aiming to expand its operational capacity and position itself as a key player in river trade.
The project will enhance the region’s export competitiveness by reducing logistics costs and improving the river corridor’s connectivity with major national routes.
With this latest project, the total investment under President Javier Miley’s RIGI program has reached $24.8 billion, Luis Caputo said.
