ADM raises 2026 profit forecast on stronger oilseed crushing margins
US agribusiness company Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) exceeded analysts’ expectations in the third quarter of 2026 and raised its full-year earnings forecast, supported by stronger oilseed crushing margins. The company increased its 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to $5.50–5.80 from its previous forecast of $5.15–5.60. For the quarter ended September 30, adjusted earnings reached $1.77 per share, exceeding analysts’ average estimate of $1.60.
Operating profit at ADM’s largest division, which includes agricultural commodity trading, logistics, grain storage and oilseed processing, more than doubled to $778 mln. The company’s crushing business recorded a particularly strong improvement, with third-quarter profit reaching $311 mln compared with just $13 mln in the same period last year.
ADM’s financial performance benefited from stronger crushing margins for soybeans and other oilseeds. The market also received additional support from increased demand for biofuel feedstocks amid elevated crude oil prices. Rising US corn and soybean prices encouraged farmers to accelerate crop sales after previously holding back supplies due to weak prices.
Favorable conditions in the processing segment allowed ADM to raise its profitability outlook for the full year 2026. However, the company’s future financial performance will depend on grain and oilseed price movements, demand for biofuel feedstocks and crushing margins. ADM remains one of the world’s largest companies involved in agricultural commodity trading and processing.
