Actual corn harvest in Ukraine meets USDA forecast, sunseed harvest still lower
As of January 22, 2026, 76.52 million tons of grain, leguminous and oilseed crops were harvested in Ukraine from 96% of the area. This is evidenced by operational data from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
Currently, the harvest is on the finish line, but the pace of harvesting remains slow. In particular:
Corn was threshed 28.91 million tons (+52.1 thousand tons per week) from 4.03 million hectares (92% of the area) with an average yield of 7.17 t/ha;
- Sunflower seeds — 9.28 million tons from 4.84 million hectares (93%) with a yield of 1.92 t/ha (unchanged for the week);
- Soybeans — 4.85 million tons from 2.04 million hectares (99%) with a yield of 2.37 t/ha (unchanged for the week);
- Other grains and pulses — 957.1 thousand tons from 334.1 thousand hectares (85%).
Current data from the Ministry of Economy on the corn harvest, provided that the remaining areas are harvested, actually coincide with the USDA forecast — the estimate in the January report for Ukraine is 29 million tons.
At the same time, the sunflower seeds harvest is approximately 1.2 million tons less than the USDA forecast — 10.5 million.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
