Zelensky reaffirms Ukraine’s intentions to supply grain to Syria
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the Foreign Ministry to “establish all necessary contacts with representatives of the people of Syria” and hinted at the Grain from Ukraine program.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in his evening video address.
“I have instructed our Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work more actively to establish all necessary contacts with representatives of the people of Syria and to correct Assad’s mistakes regarding Ukraine and the whole of Europe,” Zelensky said.
The President also added that Ukraine would support Syria’s food security, likely referring to the Grain from Ukraine initiative.
“This is our moral advantage – Ukraine helps many countries to ensure normalcy of life, in particular through food security. We need this region, like any other region of the world, to be stable and peaceful,” the president said.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Minister of Agriculture Vitaliy Koval said that Ukraine is ready to supply food to Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
