Zelensky ordered to ensure the operation of the “grain corridor”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Following the meeting, the participants decided that the grain corridor should continue to function, so Ukraine will work to restore it.
The President instructed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Neizhpapa and Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov to prepare actions to continue the grain corridor. They should prepare a set of actions to continue the work of the grain corridor.
Separately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should develop similar diplomatic steps.
“We continue to work systematically to protect our ports and the infrastructure of the grain initiative. We understand the risks, threats, and prospects. We have heard the reports of Navy Commander Neizhpapa and Deputy Prime Minister Kubrakov,” Zelensky emphasized.
On July 17, 2023, Russia announced its withdrawal from the grain deal, putting global food security at risk. The UN Office in Istanbul received a written notification from Russia about this.
Despite the fact that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believed that the grain deal would continue to function, on the night of July 19, Russia attacked grain terminals and port infrastructure in the ports of Odesa and Chornomorsk.
Moscow claims that it will allegedly return to the grain deal, but only if its agreements with Russia are fulfilled. However, the UN offered to fulfill some of its demands, but the aggressor country refused.
