Winter wheat planting is nearing completion in the US
According to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), as of November 24, farmers had 3% of their planned winter wheat acreage remaining to plant.
Emergence has occurred on 87% of the acreage, 2 percentage points lower than the average for the same date over the past five years.
Crop condition is worse than last year. The share of crops in good and excellent condition is 48% (55% last year), 35% in fair condition (33%), and 17% in poor and very poor condition (11%).
