Winter wheat crop conditions have worsened in the US
Winter wheat crop conditions worsened last week, according to Zerno On-line, citing the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
The share of wheat crops in excellent and good condition decreased over the week from 34% to 30%, significantly lower than the 2025 estimate (45%) and close to the levels seen in the lean years of 2022 and 2023.
Corn planting rates are ahead of the five-year average. As of April 19, corn had been planted at 11% of the planned area (9% on the same date on average over the past five years), and soybeans at 12% (5%). Spring wheat planting rates are in line with the average at 12% (12%).
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
