Wilmar has increased its profits on the back of increased soybean processing
Wilmar International increased soybean crushing in the first half of 2026, supported by stronger demand from China’s feed sector. Sales volumes in the oilseeds and grains segment rose 6.1% to 14.9 mln tons, while revenue increased 16% to $5.58 bln.
Improved processing margins for oilseeds and tropical oils provided significant support to the company’s financial performance. Pre-tax profit in the Feed and Industrial Products division, which includes oilseeds, grains, tropical oils and sugar, jumped 54.9% to $591 mln.
Overall, Wilmar’s core net profit for January-June increased 9.9% y/y to $641.5 mln, while revenue rose 17.2% to $38.56 bln. Revenue growth was also supported by the consolidation of AWL Agri Business and higher selling prices across most product categories.
Tropical oil sales volumes increased 1% to 12.7 mln tons, while refining margins improved. At the same time, higher soybean and palm oil prices contributed to a 3% increase in Wilmar’s inventories to $15.09 bln.
In contrast, palm oil and sugar operations weakened. Crude palm oil production declined 4% to around 716 thsd tons, while pre-tax profit in the Plantation and Sugar Milling division fell 32%. Wilmar expects agricultural commodity markets to remain highly volatile amid continued geopolitical uncertainty.
