Wheat harvesting has begun in the US
Last week, the harvesting of the new winter wheat crop began in the United States. By June 1, 3% of the area had been threshed, which corresponds to the average figure for this date over the past five years. This was reported by the Zerno On-Line agency with reference to the National Agricultural Statistical Service of the US Department of Agriculture (NASS).
By June 1, American farmers had planted 93% of the planned corn area. The condition of corn crops is worse than last year. The share of crops in good and excellent condition is 69% (75% a year ago). 26% of corn crops are currently in satisfactory condition (21%), 6% are in poor and very poor condition (4%).
26% of the planned soybean planting remains. 67% of soybean crops are currently in good and excellent condition, 28% are in satisfactory condition, and 5% are in poor and very poor condition.
