Wheat, corn and soybeans fell in Chicago on Wednesday
Wheat, corn and soybean futures on the CBOT declined on Wednesday, September 23. December soft red winter wheat fell 1.22% to $260.32/t, corn dropped 1.35% to $208.27/t, while November soybean futures lost 0.57% to $484.27/t.
Wheat futures declined across all major US exchanges. December KCBT hard red winter wheat fell to $283.56/t, while MGEX spring wheat in Minneapolis dropped to $267.77/t. Expectations ahead of new USDA export sales data added pressure to the market.
Corn also closed lower despite USDA reporting a private sale of 100 thsd tons of new-crop corn to Mexico. Analysts expect US corn export sales for the week at 0.8–1.4 mln tons. At the same time, Coceral cut its 2026 corn crop forecast for the EU and UK to 48.6 mln tons.
Soybean futures also moved lower ahead of a meeting between the US and Chinese leaders. Traders reduced risk exposure while waiting for signals on future trade relations. US soybean export sales for the week are expected at 1.5–2 mln tons.
The Paris MATIF market also declined. December wheat fell 1.48% to €240.50/t, or $275.35/t, while November corn dropped 0.60% to €274.75/t, or $314.56/t.
