Wheat and corn fell, while soybeans corrected in Chicago on Thursday
Wheat and corn futures declined on CBOT on Thursday, September 17, while soybean prices ended the session little changed. December wheat fell 0.51% to $267.12/t, corn declined 0.70% to $208.86/t, while November soybeans corrected by 0.06% to $484.92/t.
Wheat remained under pressure despite slow shipments from the Black Sea region. SovEcon estimates combined wheat exports from Russia and Ukraine in July–September 2026 at around 8 mln tons, compared with 16.4 mln tons a year earlier. Meanwhile, US wheat export sales for the week ended September 10 totaled 325.9 thsd tons.
Corn also continued to decline, although US export sales remained active. Weekly sales reached 1.027 mln tons, including 626 thsd tons to Mexico and 150.2 thsd tons to Japan. South Korean importers also purchased 260 thsd tons of corn in a tender, with the origin not disclosed.
Soybean futures closed mixed: the November contract edged lower, while March futures increased slightly. US soybean export sales totaled 1.7 mln tons for the week, including 875.3 thsd tons purchased by China. Forecast heavy rainfall across parts of the Midwest could also slow the harvest pace.
On MATIF in Paris, wheat and corn also moved lower. December wheat futures fell 1.07% to €243.50/t, or $279.17/t, while November corn declined 0.75% to €261.75/t, or $300.10/t.
