Vietnam to create nationwide used cooking oil collection system
FatHopes Energy and PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) have agreed to establish Vietnam’s first nationwide used cooking oil (UCO) collection system. The collected feedstock will be used to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other biofuels.
FatHopes Energy will provide digital traceability technologies and expertise in UCO collection, while PVOIL will contribute its network of around 1,000 filling stations and logistics infrastructure.
The partners plan to create an integrated system for collecting, tracking and managing used cooking oil. The project will initially be launched in Ho Chi Minh City before being gradually expanded nationwide.
The companies said the project would support the development of a circular economy by turning food waste into feedstock for fuel production. At the same time, establishing a stable UCO supply base is expected to support the development of SAF and other renewable fuels in Vietnam.
