USDA Weekly Grains Inspected For Export Report (Feb. 16): Eyes on Corn as Inspections Fall Across Board
Total grain inspections were down by more than one-third for the week ending Feb. 11, according to today’s Grains Inspected and/or Weighed for Export report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The Feb. 16 report showed that 2.6 million metric tons were inspected last week, compared to 4.1 million the previous week, for a decline of more than 37%.
Not even corn was able to prop up the total, as inspections fell from 1.6 million metric tons for the week ending Feb. 4 to 1.3 million last week.
The change amounted to nearly a 17% decrease, as corn has been slowly making up a deficit in recent weeks toward hitting a USDA target.
Soybeans and sorghum inspections were down by larger percentages, while wheat declined about 13% for the week.
