USDA increases sunseed harvest estimate in Ukraine, but it is still smaller than last season
The USDA has raised its forecast for Ukraine’s sunflower seeds crop in the MY 2025/26 to 11 million tons, the ministry said in a March report.
The current forecast is 0.5 million tons higher than the estimate in the previous USDA report, but 2 million tons lower than the harvest in the MY 2024/25 (13 million tons).
Analysts estimate sunflower oil production in Ukraine at 4.73 million tons. This is 0.2 million tons more than in the previous forecast, but 0.56 million tons less than last year (5.29 million tons).
The forecast for sunflower meal production is 4.54 million tons — 0.2 million tons more than the previous estimate, but 0.54 million tons lower than in the 2024/25 season (5.08 million tons).
“World oilseed production increased this month due to increased sunflower seed production in Argentina and Ukraine, despite a decline in soybean production in Argentina and Ukraine,” the report said.

Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv.
