USDA improved the forecast for Ukrainian sunflower
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has changed its forecasts for the production and export of sunflower and oil for Ukraine.
This is evidenced by the department’s September report.
Thus, the sunflower harvest in 2022/23 MR is expected at the level of 10.5 million tons, which is 1 million tons more than the August estimates. At the same time, the export of seeds is forecast at the level of 1.95 million tons (+700 thousand tons). In the 2021/22 season, experts reduced the estimate of sunflower exports by 160,000 tons to 1.64 million tons.
At the same time, compared to August, the USDA increased the estimate of sunflower oil production in 2021/22 MR to 4.64 million tons (+129 thousand tons). Export is expected at the level of 4.46 million tons (+115 thousand tons).
The forecast of oil production and export for the 2022/23 season remained unchanged — 4.085 million tons and 3.6 million tons, respectively.
