USDA: Corn use for fuel ethanol at 545 million bushels in March
The USDA recently released its Grain Crushings and Co-Products Production report for May, reporting that corn use for fuel ethanol production in March was down when compared to the same month of last year.
Total corn consumed for alcohol and other uses was 504 million bushels in March, up 8% when compared to February, but down 4% when compared to March 2024. Usage included 92.2% for alcohol and 7.8% for other purposes.
At dry mills, condensed distillers solubles production expanded to 112,630 tons in March, up from 101,079 tons in February and 84,812 tons in March of last year. Corn oil production reached 188,254 tons, up from 173,128 tons the previous month and 186,501 tons in March 2024. Distillers dried grains production was at 382,594 tons, up from 344,525 tons in February, but down from 394,388 tons in March of last year. Distillers dried grains with solubles production was at 1.81 million tons, up from 1.69 million tons the previous month, but down from 1.93 million tons in March of the previous year. Distillers wet gains production reached 1.23 million tons, up from 1.11 million tons in February and 1.22 million tons in March 2024. Modified distillers wet grains production reached 497,503 tons, up from 450,916 tons the previous year and 459,800 tons in March of the previous year.
At dry and wet mills, carbon dioxide captured expanded to 241,425 tons in March, up from 217,754 tons in February and 211,809 tons in March 2024.
