US State Department: Renewal of the “grain deal” is not a regional, but a global problem
The US State Department has emphasized that the resumption of grain supplies from Ukraine through the Black Sea is not a regional but a global issue.
Vedant Patel, Deputy Spokesperson for the State Department, made the statement on Thursday during a press briefing in Washington.
“Of course, we want to ensure that grain goes to all countries that need it as much as possible. And this is not only a regional problem (in terms of Eastern Europe and Africa), it is a global problem,” said the US Foreign Service spokesman.
He emphasized that Ukrainian food and grain products in particular are “incredibly important.” In this regard, he reminded that the Black Sea Grain Initiative ensured the supply of these products to various countries.
“And we continue to urge Russia to rejoin it,” Patel said.
