US soybean crushing rises 8% in July

US soybean crushing reached 6.66 mln tons in July 2026, up 8% from 6.16 mln tons a year earlier. According to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), US processors crushed around 222 mln bushels of soybeans during the month.

Higher crushing volumes supported an increase in soybean oil production. Crude soybean oil output totaled 2.57 billion pounds in July, up 6% year-on-year and 2% from June.

Refined soybean oil production reached 2.03 billion pounds, rising 10% from July 2025. Compared with June, output increased by less than 1%.

Canola processing also increased. US mills crushed 225.5 thsd tons of canola seed in July, up 12% year-on-year. Crude canola oil production also rose 12%, while refined canola oil output increased 8% from a year earlier.

Meanwhile, production declined in some other segments. Refined cottonseed oil output fell 34% compared with July 2025. USDA also noted that month-on-month comparisons should take into account the different number of calendar days in June and July.
