US soybean crops show significant improvement

Last week, the share of soybean crops in good and excellent condition in the United States increased from 66% to 70%, which is 2% more than a year earlier, the Zerno On-Line agency reported with reference to the National Agricultural Statistical Service of the US Department of Agriculture (NASS).
The share of spring wheat crops in good and excellent condition also increased by 4% over the week to 54%. However, it remains much lower than last year – 77%.
The condition of corn crops has not changed over the week. The share of corn crops in good and excellent condition remains equal to 74%, which is 6% more than last year.
The winter wheat harvest was completed on 63% of the area by July 13, which is 1% less than on the same date on average over the past five years.
According to the July forecast of the US Department of Agriculture, the gross harvest of soybeans in the current season will amount to 117.979 million tons (118.836 million tons last season), corn – 398.925 (377.633) million tons, wheat – 52.492 (53.650) million tons.
