US farmers have harvested nearly half of their corn crop

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (NASS), by October 13, the U.S. corn crop had been harvested from 47% of planted areas, soybeans – from 67%.
The pace of corn and soybean harvesting remains high due to warm and dry weather.
The percentage of corn acreage in good to excellent condition is 63%, the same as a week earlier. Crop condition continues to be the best for this time of year in six years. Therefore, the U.S. Department of Agriculture last week raised its gross corn harvest forecast for this season from 385.73 million tons to 386.18 million tons (389.68 million tons last season).
Sowing of winter wheat by October 13 was 64% of the planned area, which is below the five-year average for the same date (66%).
