US farmers have begun sowing corn for the 2026 harvest. Kurkul.com writes this based on a report by USDA experts.
Sowing started on the same terms as last year.
As of April 5, 3% of the area had been sown, which is 1% ahead of the average pace for 5 years.

Also, on the reporting date, sowing of sugar beets, spring wheat (2%) and barley (5%) began in the US.
Meanwhile, the condition of winter wheat is estimated to be significantly better than last year. In particular:
in excellent condition — 7% (6% — in 2025);
- in good — 41% (29%);
- satisfactory — 31% (34%)
- poor — 15% (19%);
- very poor — 6% (12%).
