US Democrats plan to repeal Trump tariffs and push for an end to war with Iran

US Democrats in Congress are preparing legislative initiatives to repeal tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump and seek an end to the war with Iran. These issues will form part of the party’s agenda if it regains a majority in the House of Representatives, ABC News reports.

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said the party plans to push for a review of tariff policy and the restoration of Congress’s authority over tariff decisions. In his view, lawmakers should have the power to repeal tariffs introduced by the Trump administration.

Another priority for Democrats is ending the war with Iran. Jeffries previously criticised the military operation, describing it as reckless and a war of choice. He also linked the conflict to rising fuel prices for American consumers.

According to the Financial Times, Jeffries pledged to present the legislative agenda within the first 100 hours after being sworn in as Speaker on January 3. Meanwhile, Brent crude prices fell 9.2% to $94.11/barrel on November 4, the Associated Press reports.
