US corn export inspections rise nearly 23% in a week
U.S. corn export shipments continue to gain momentum. According to the USDA’s Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS), corn export inspections reached 1.9 mln tons in the week ending July 30, up 22.9% from the previous week and 45.4% higher than in the same week last year.
Since the start of the 2025/26 marketing year, 77.3 mln tons of U.S. corn have passed export inspection, an increase of 25.4% compared with the same period a year earlier, reflecting consistently strong global demand for U.S. corn.
The wheat segment remains under pressure. Weekly wheat export inspections totaled 335.3 thsd tons, down 19.7% from the previous week and 51.4% lower than the corresponding week last year.
Since the beginning of the 2026/27 marketing year, 2.9 mln tons of U.S. wheat have undergone export inspection, down 27.4% year on year. Most weekly wheat shipments moved through U.S. Pacific Northwest ports, where 256.6 thsd tons were inspected.
South Korea and Taiwan were the leading destinations for U.S. wheat exports during the reporting week. The contrast between robust corn shipments and weaker wheat exports highlights the differing demand dynamics for the two major U.S. grain crops.
