US corn and soybean crops deteriorate

Last week, the condition of corn and soybean crops in the United States slightly worsened, the Zerno On-Line agency reports.
According to the National Agricultural Statistical Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (NASS), as of August 10, the share of corn crops in good and excellent condition decreased to 72% (73% a week earlier and 67% a year ago).
The share of soybean crops in good and excellent condition decreased to 68% (69% and 68%).
By August 10, 90% of the area under winter wheat had been threshed, which is approximately the average for the same date over the previous five years – 91%.
The spring wheat harvest is 16% complete, which is much less than the average for the same date over the previous five years – 22%.
