UN to provide Ukrainian farmers with up to 10,000 grain storage bags and modular storage facilities

FAO and other international donors are ready to provide Ukrainian farmers with up to 10,000 grain storage bags, as well as modular facilities for temporary crop storage. The first deliveries are expected in the near future.

About 60% of the temporary storage capacity is planned to be allocated to frontline regions and areas most affected by the war. The assistance is expected to partially offset the storage shortage, which has worsened due to export logistics disruptions and attacks on port infrastructure.

At the same time, FAO is developing special support instruments for small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises with limited access to traditional bank financing.

International partners have already moved on to developing a practical mechanism for providing the assistance. This includes establishing procedures for collecting and processing applications from farmers, assessing regional needs and defining specific support packages.

Earlier, international partners confirmed about $10.5 mln in funding to provide temporary storage for this year’s harvest for small and medium-sized agricultural producers in frontline regions.
