Among external events and processes, Ukraine is most negatively affected by problems in relations with Poland, in particular the ongoing blockade of the border by Polish farmers.

These are the findings of a poll conducted by the Razumkov Center’s sociological service from March 21 to 27, announced at a press conference by Andriy Bychenko, director of the Center’s sociological service.

“External events and processes such as problems in relations with Poland, in particular the prolonged blockade of the Ukrainian border by Polish farmers (4.5 on a scale of 1 to 5), the aggravation of the internal political confrontation in the United States, which hinders financial support for Ukraine (4.4), and the unfriendly policy of the Hungarian leadership (4.3) have the most negative impact on Ukraine,” Bychenko said.

The conclusion of bilateral agreements on security cooperation with Britain, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Canada, and the Netherlands was positively assessed by more than 80% of respondents – 43.7 definitely approved and 37% rather approved.

Approximately three-quarters of respondents supported the idea of sending Western troops to Ukraine, as expressed by French President Emmanuel Macron (48.2% strongly agree and 26.1% rather agree). Against this, 12.2% of respondents spoke out, while the rest could not answer.

Positive attitudes among Ukrainians largely outweigh negative ones toward Latvia, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Estonia, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands, with a balance of 80%. The positive balance of attitudes toward the United States and Moldova is over 60%, toward Slovakia and Romania – over 50%, toward Turkey – about 50%, and toward Poland – 26%.

The negative balance of attitudes toward Hungary was almost 34%.

A total of 2020 respondents over the age of 18 were interviewed in all oblasts in the government-controlled areas of Ukraine and in areas not directly affected by hostilities. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
