Ukrainian wheat shipped to Indonesia via multimodal route through Gdansk

TEUS has organized a multimodal shipment of 72 forty-foot containers of wheat from Ukraine to Jakarta. The cargo was loaded in Dnipro and then sent by rail to the Polish port of Gdansk.

From Gdansk, the wheat will be shipped by sea to Indonesia. The estimated rail transit time from Dnipro to Gdansk is up to three weeks, while the sea voyage to Jakarta is expected to take around 35 days.

One of the key elements of the route was organizing the “first mile” — moving empty and loaded containers between the terminal in Dnipro and the customer’s grain elevator. The company also had to ensure timely delivery of containers to railway platforms.

TEUS said the operation had to be organized amid limited availability in the road freight market. To maintain the required pace, the company engaged additional trucking operators and transport resources.

The Dnipro–Gdansk–Jakarta route demonstrates the potential of containerized and multimodal logistics for exporting Ukrainian grain to distant markets. The company did not disclose the cargo tonnage or whether the route is expected to be used on a regular basis.
