Ukrainian sunseed prices continue growth
The sunflower seed market continues to face significant challenges in securing sufficient raw commodities supplies for processors.
Fulfilment of oil and meal delivery contracts is forcing crushers to actively replenish feedstock inventories. As a result, prices continue to move higher, although actual transactions — particularly for high-oil-content sunflower seed — are often being concluded at levels significantly above the broader market range.
Over the week of May 1–8, the sunflower price increased by UAH 300 to UAH 32,000/t (USD 730/t).
As long as support from the vegetable oil market remains in place, a major shift in farmer selling behaviour appears unlikely.
