Ukrainian farmers receive the lowest corn prices in the world. Farmers from other countries “should trade places with them” – opinion
In some cases, Ukrainian farmers receive less than $100 per ton of corn and continue to face difficult conditions.
This opinion was shared by Rory Deverell, the founder of Black Silo Commodity Consulting, on social networking site Х.
“They are getting the lowest grain price in the world in the most difficult conditions in the world. I urge any farmer elsewhere to trade places with them (Ukrainian farmers – ed.),” he said.
According to Deverell, the current drop in grain prices in the EU has little to do with Ukraine, but rather with low demand, large harvests in South America and Russia, and large corn stocks in the US after record yields.
“Farmers (European – ed.) are only blaming Ukraine because they were greedy,” Devereux wrote.
He added that blocking Ukrainian exports now only postpones the problem until the new harvest, when there will be even more pressure.
USDA analysts forecast Ukraine’s corn harvest at 30.5 million tons, exports at 23 million tons (+2 million tons), and ending stocks at 5.32 million tons (-1.5 million tons).
