Ukrainian exports of rapeseed in August may break all records
After a slow start in July, when deepwater ports were focused on barley and high prices from farmers delayed the accumulation of contracted volumes of rapeseed, Ukraine’s August oilseed exports finally reached full speed. During August 01-13, 2024, the country exported 420.4 thsd tonnes of rapeseed. The volume has already exceeded the whole July figure by 49%. In August 2023, Ukraine exported 711.3 thsd tonnes of rapeseed.
This was reported by the analysts of ASAP Agri.
“In August, the main destination of the Ukrainian rapeseed was still the EU, where almost the whole volume (413.8 thsd tonnes) was imported. According to the European Commission, the EU rapeseed harvest will be reduced to 18.4 mln tonnes in 2024, compared to 19.7 mln tonnes a year ago. This may stimulate the import of oilseeds to the EU. The Commission reported that in the period from July 1 to August 13, 2024/25, the EU imported 443.3 thsd tonnes of rapeseed, up 55% compared to the same period last year,” – ASAP Agri informs.
ASAP Agri does not exclude that, despite the decline in rapeseed exports during the second week of August, the export of rapeseed from Ukraine may reach 0.9 mln tonnes or even more. This will be a historical record for the month.
