Ukraine’s wheat harvest passes the halfway mark

As of August 4, Ukrainian farmers had harvested 4.01 mln hectares, or 34% of the projected area for early grains and pulses, collecting 17.6 mln tons of the new crop, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

Wheat has been harvested from 2.74 mln ha (53% of the planned area), with production reaching 12.5 mln tons at an average yield of 4.5 tons/ha.

Barley has been harvested from 1.02 mln ha (68% of the area), producing 4.42 mln tons with an average yield of 4.3 tons/ha.

Peas have been harvested from 261.7 thsd ha (88% of the area), with output totaling 669.5 thsd tons and an average yield of 2.5 tons/ha.

The leading regions by harvested grain volume are:

  • Odesa – 3.59 mln tons from 857 thsd ha;
  • Mykolaiv – 2.12 mln tons from 606.2 thsd ha;
  • Dnipropetrovsk – 1.91 mln tons from 475.4 thsd ha.
