Ukraine’s oilseed harvest may reach 20 mln tons in 2026
Ukraine’s production of major oilseed crops may reach around 20 mln tons in 2026. According to preliminary forecasts, the sunseed harvest is expected at 12 mln tons, soybean production at up to 4 mln tons, while rapeseed output has already reached 4 mln tons. This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Taras Vysotskyi.
Sunflower seed and soybean harvesting is now nearing completion. As of October 22, Ukrainian farmers had harvested around 80% of the sunflower area and more than 85% of the soybean area. According to the ministry’s estimates, harvesting of both crops is expected to be largely completed by the end of October, allowing for more accurate estimates of their final production volumes.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has already completed the rapeseed harvest, with total production reaching 4 mln tons. Farmers have also finished harvesting the main early grain crops, producing 25.5 mln tons of wheat and 6 mln tons of barley. As a result, the final outcome of the harvesting campaign will largely depend on the yields of late-season crops.
Corn harvesting is expected to take the longest, with only 20% of the planted area harvested so far. According to Vysotskyi, corn harvesting will continue throughout November and December. Meanwhile, the completion of sunseed and soybean harvesting in the coming weeks will provide a clearer picture of Ukraine’s total oilseed production balance in 2026.
