Ukraine’s milk production down 3.6% in January-May

Milk production in Ukraine decreased by 3.6% in January-May 2020 compared with the same period in 2019, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
In particular, Ukraine’s milk output amounted to 3.64 million tonnes in January-May 2020, including 1.15 million tonnes produced by agricultural enterprises (down 1.2%) and 2.49 million tonnes by private households (down 4.7%).
The highest volumes of milk production over the reporting period were recorded in Poltava region – 292.3 thousand tonnes (down 3.8% year-on-year); Vinnytsia region – 288.1 thousand tonnes (down 4.3%), Khmelnytskyi region – 251.7 thousand tonnes (up 0.8%).
The lowest volumes of milk production were recorded in Luhansk region – 39.1 thousand tonnes (down 6.0% year-on-year); Donetsk region – 59.5 thousand tonnes (down 12.9%); Zaporizhzhia region – 81.7 thousand tonnes (down 7.3%).
As reported, according to data provided by the State Statistics Service, Ukraine produced 3.79 million tonnes of milk in January-May 2019, a decrease of 2.8% year-one-year.
