Ukraine’s grain stocks rise by 6 mln tons year-on-year
As of October 1, 2026, Ukraine’s total grain and pulses stocks reached 20.7 mln tons, up 6 mln tons compared to the same date last year. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, a significant increase in stocks was recorded both at agricultural enterprises and at grain storage and processing facilities.
Agricultural enterprises held the largest share of grain stocks at 14.6 mln tons, up 26.9% year-on-year. Meanwhile, grain stocks at storage and processing facilities reached 6.1 mln tons, almost doubling from a year earlier (+91.3%). Thus, the strongest growth in grain inventories was recorded in the storage and processing sector.
Wheat accounted for the largest share of grain stocks, reaching 13.96 mln tons, up 45.6% compared to early October 2025. Corn stocks increased by 38.8% to 3.1 mln tons, while barley inventories more than doubled to 2.4 mln tons. Rye stocks also rose more than twofold to 155.5 thsd tons.
Meanwhile, the situation in the oilseed market was different. Soybean stocks declined by 24% year-on-year to 1.08 mln tons as of early October, while sunseed stocks decreased by 1.8% to 4.03 mln tons. Thus, despite a significant buildup in grain inventories, stocks of major oilseeds remained below last year’s levels.
