Ukraine’s barley harvest reaches 4.4 mln tons as three regions complete harvesting

As of August 3, Ukrainian farmers had harvested grain and pulse crops from 4 mln hectares, or 34% of the planned area, producing a total of 17.5 mln tons of grain.

Harvest progress by crop is as follows:

  • Wheat: 12.5 mln tons harvested from 2.7 mln hectares (53%), with an average yield of 4.57 tons/ha;
  • Barley: 4.4 mln tons harvested from 1 mln hectares (68%), with an average yield of 4.42 tons/ha;
  • Peas: 669 thsd tons, with an average yield of 2.56 tons/ha.

Farmers in the Odesa region have already harvested more than 2 mln tons of wheat. Meanwhile, more than 90% of wheat areas have been harvested in the Zakarpattia and Mykolaiv regions. The highest wheat yields have been recorded in the Vinnytsia and Ternopil regions at 6.3 tons/ha.

Barley harvesting has already been completed in three regions — Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Kherson. The largest barley crop was harvested in the Odesa region, totaling 1.25 mln tons, while the highest average barley yield was recorded in the Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi regions at 6.4 tons/ha.

In addition, farmers have harvested 2.39 mln tons of rapeseed from 910 thsd hectares (68% of the planned area), with an average yield of 2.63 tons/ha.
