Ukraine’s 2025 crop sowing hits 94% of target areas
As of May 23, 2025, Ukrainian farmers have sown 5.3 mln ha of spring grain and pulses crops, covering 94% of the planned areas.
The largest share of sown areas is attributed to corn – 3.76 mln ha (93%), barley – 743.6 thsd ha (96%), spring wheat – 215.3 thsd ha (95%), peas – 212 thsd ha (98%), and oats – 158.4 thsd ha (98%). Buckwheat has been sown on 49.7 thsd ha (56%), and millet on 43.9 thsd ha (58%).
Technical crops have been sown on 6.8 mln ha (85%):

Sunflower – 4.35 mln ha (86%);

Soybeans – 2 mln ha (84%);

Sugar beets – 217.1 thsd ha (99%).
The sowing of sugar beets has been completed.
In 2025, approximately 5.7 mln ha of spring grain and pulses crops are planned to be sown, consistent with 2024 levels. A key feature of this season is the increase in spring wheat areas to 227.5 thsd ha, driven by steady demand from processing companies and exporters.
