UkrAgroConsult

The period of July 1-9 featured very warm weather with precipitation of various intensity, locally accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

Due to downpours and strong wind, winter and early grains locally lodged, with their damping off in some southern areas, and got hit by fungus diseases and pest bugs.

Winter and spring crops are rated fair to good, UkrAgroConsult reports.

According to the Ag Ministry, 1.37 MMT of grains have been harvested in the country as of July 9, including 1.04 MMT of barley and 325.6 KMT of wheat. For now, the average barley and wheat yields are 3.93 MT/ha and 3.15 MT/ha, respectively.

Precipitation of various intensity and quantity occurred almost all over the country.

As of the end of June, the 0-100 cm soil layer in winter grain fields in many western and central areas and occasionally in the north and east was too wet (over 120 mm of effective moisture). In some parts of Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy Luhansk, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, the amounts of effective moisture were insufficient and poor (less than 60 mm), while being optimal (61-80 mm) and excessive (81-120 mm) in other areas.

Weather forecast for July 13-18:

Precipitation (15-35 mm) in the form of rain with thunderstorms (possibly with hail) is expected in the western and southern regions. The central and northern regions will receive 5-10 mm and 2-10 mm of rain will fall in the east.
